‘The Design & Analysis of Comedy’ with Charlie Roetting

Join long time comedy scholar, Charlie Roetting, on a deep dive into comedy theory and an analysis of humor. Have you ever done or seen something and wondered if it was actually funny, and why or why not that was? This workshop aims to answer that question. Whether you’re an improviser, sketch writer or performer, stand-up comedian, instructor, director, or coach, this workshop offers something to take your comedy to the next level. In this workshop, we will discuss many things, including but not limited to:
- The eleven types of humor
- The five types of scenes
- The theories of comedy
- Second beats and callbacks
This one-day virtual workshop will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, February 15th (7:00-9:00PM). The instructor is Charlie Roetting.
All students must adhere to student policies as described in the Dallas Comedy Club Student Handbook. Workshop sizes are limited to allow for optimal instruction and student development. Students must be 18 years or older to enroll and participate. All sales are final and classes are non-refundable.
