Stand-Up Level Two
Prerequisite: Level One Stand-Up + Instructor Approval
6-Week Course + Final Grad Show
January 20-February 24, 2022
Grad Show: Sat Feb 26th at 3:00PM
You did it! You wrote and performed a three minute set in front of a live audience! You rock! Now it’s time to build on that momentum and keep the party going! In this level, students will not only expand on their sets, but also learn the ins and outs of the business of stand-up: the right way to contact theaters, how to get yourself booked, and proper stage etiquette that will help you continue to get booked! You will also work on strengthening your set; a tight five to ten is essential for being a successful stand-up comic. Whether you’re doing open mics, booking shows, or even submitting for festivals, it is imperative to have a well-developed set that can be delivered with confidence and ease. Students will receive personalized feedback with a focus on stage presence, storytelling, and joke set up. Students will emerge from this class feeling confident and ready to perform a memorable set.
This is a six-session class running from Thursday, January 20 – Thursday, February 24, 2022 (7:00-10:00PM). The instructor is Nick Cutelli.
This class will meet on the following dates: Jan 20, Jan 27, Feb 3, Feb 10, Feb 17, and Feb 24. The class graduation show will be Saturday, February 26th at 3:00PM.
All students must adhere to student policies as described in the Dallas Comedy Club Student Handbook. Class sizes are limited to allow for optimal instruction and student development. COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: Due to the increasing COVID-19 cases, we have decided that all students and staff are required to wear a mask while in our Training Center, effective immediately. Masks must be worn during any DCC class or workshop at all times, whether you are vaccinated or not. This pertains to all Students, Student Advocates, and Instructors. This means every single person in class at tour theater must be wearing a mask at all times. Anyone who is unwilling to follow this will be asked to leave the theater immediately.
