OPPORTUNITIES

Stand-Up Course Instructor

The DCC Training Center is seeking qualified candidates to lead Intro and Level Two Stand-Up courses. Classes run for eight weeks followed by a graduation performance the Sunday after the last class meeting. Teaching a class is a great way to mentor new comics and help foster a sense of community within the local comedy scene.

The ideal instructor meets the following criteria:

  • Has performed on at least a feature level for a weekend at DCC or a similar institution
  • Enjoys working with new comics and views them as inspiration, not as competition
  • Is willing to follow a carefully crafted eight week curriculum, but uses their own experience and expertise as examples within lessons
  • Is comfortable working within the framework of the Training Center and performing small administrative tasks like taking attendance and monitoring class show attendance
  • Has a friendly and personable demeanor

Hourly pay starts at $30/hr with a flat rate of $45 for class graduation performances. Most instructors teach for 3 hours each week. Prospective instructors may be asked to audit their intended course prior to teaching. Teaching a class at DCC does not guarantee being booked at the club, but ideal candidates have already performed on a weekend at DCC or are at the appropriate level to perform.
